CUF New General Manager, Encik Mohd Sukri B. Ibrahim




Encik Mohd Sukri B Ibrahim was born on 14th January 1963 in Besut, Terengganu. He obtained the secondary education at Sekolah Menengah Sains Terengganu (1975 – 1980). He was then sponsored by PETRONAS to further his tertiary education to West Virginia University, United States of America (1981 -1985), where he graduated with Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering.

Upon graduation, he started his career as Lab Technician with BJ Services Limited, a contractor providing engineering services to Esso Production Malaysia Incorporation and Sarawak Shell Berhad.

He was later promoted as Cementing Engineer and finally ended his career as the District Superintendent for East Malaysian operation. He resigned from BJ Services Limited in 1990 and subsequently, joined Petronas Gas Berhad in 1991 as the Shift Supervisor at Gas processing Plant Train-1 (GPP-1).

While he was there, he continued acquiring new knowledge and skills in gas processing at Gas processing Plant Complex- A.

In 1997, he ventured and taken-up new challenges into project management, where he had involved in project engineering for Centralised Utilities Facilities (CUF). During the CUF project, he was entrusted to lead the project engineering for CUF Cogeneration unit. He had involved with CUF project from initial drawing board (basic and detail engineering), construction, commissioning and initial operation.

Later he left his job as the first CUF Kerteh Operation Manager in 2006 to take on a bigger roles and responsibility as the Senior Manager Operation at Gas Processing Plant Complex-B. Among many legacies he left behind at GPP-B were Visual Management Project for Area Based Team, EzFix (quick valve opener) innovation and HOMA energy configurator for GPP-B energy management.

With 19 years of working experience with PETRONAS, he continues to contribute back to the company as he believed the company had provided him a lot of opportunity and experiential learning. Among of his involvement are Leader for Alarm Management and Boiler Community of Practices (CoP), Deputy Chairman to Operation Manager Panel, committee member to Non-executive Development Committee, and other involvement such as assessor for Skill Group SKG 16.1/16.2, ACD, etc.

His motto in life is to ‘Give and earn for trust and respect’ as key ingredient for success in career growth. During leisure time, he enjoys reading books and magazines, and ‘social golfing’.
